What is a drive thru storage building?

Stop & Stor prides itself on offering our customers the most efficient & convenient way to access your storage unit – drive thru storage buildings.  You can drive into the building, and unload your belongings while inside, away from the cold, inclement weather, etc.  Without having to transport boxes back and forth from outside, you’ll be in and out, fast and easy!

 

What are loading docks?

Stop & Stor has ample loading docks from which you can easily and conveniently unload your belongings.  No need to worry about finding parking and lugging your stuff. 

 

What storage unit size do I need?

Stop & Stor offers a vast array of sizes to accommodate your storage needs, so you don’t pay for space you don’t need.  Our storage units range from small storage lockers to very large storage units.  Our Room Size Guide will help you determine which unit size is right for you.  If you need further assistance, one of our trained customer service representatives will gladly you assist you in this process. 

 

Am I required to sign a long-term lease?

Stop & Stor rents all storage units on a month-to-month basis.  Your rental term can be as long or short as you like, depending on your needs.  If you know that you will be storing with us for a long time, we encourage you to take advantage of our discount program – by paying for your storage unit in advance, you will receive a discounted rate.

 

What do I need to bring when I’m ready to rent?

Stop & Stor requires a valid form of government issued identification in order to sign a rental contract.  You will also need a lock for your unit, which you can either bring or purchase from us at the time of your rental.

 

What holidays is Stop & Stor closed?

Stop & Stor is open year-round, 7 days a week, with the exception of the following legal holidays:

New Years Day, Easter, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. 

*Early closures Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

 

How much notice am I required to give before moving out?

Stop & Stor does not require you to give us advanced notice of your move out.  Your rental term ends the last day of the month, however Stop & Stor gives you a rent-free, courtesy 5 day grace period.  We understand there are circumstances that make it difficult to move out by the last day of the month.

 

What security measures are used to protect my stuff?

Stop & Stor has a state-of-the-art security program to ensure your goods are safe and secure.  It features coded-computerized entry, well-lit self-storage spaced, monitored video surveillance, 24-hour on site personnel, and more.  To lean more about our security program, visit our Security section. 

 

Can I buy boxes and other packing products from Stop & Stor?

Yes, all Stop & Stor facilities offer a wide variety of moving and packing supplies.  To learn more about the products we offer, visit our Supplies section.

 

Do you provide moving carts or dollies at your storage facilities?

Yes, Stop & Stor provides cart and dollies for your use, free of charge, at all of our storage facilities.

 

Do you offer a free rental truck?

Yes, as a convenience to our customers, upon renting a storage unit, you can rent a truck and we will reimburse you (up to $200).

 

What happens if I reserve the wrong size storage unit?

Don’t worry, our reservations are stress free.  If you find you need a different size, our storage professionals will be happy to accommodate you and can assist you in determining the best size unit to find your needs. 

Questions about Renting a Storage Unit

Do you have climate-controlled storage units?

Yes.  Stop & Stor is pleased to offer climate-controlled units at most of our NYC locations.  We also offer heating and cooling systems in all our facilities, so all units maintain constant temperature year-round. 

 

What is a drive-up unit?

A drive-up unit is a ground floor or outdoor unit that you can drive-up to and directly access from your vehicle.  These units are ideal for storing large, heavy items as you can load your belongings directly into the unit from a vehicle. 

 

Am I required to sign a long-term lease?

Do you offer long-term storage leases?

If your needs require a long-term storage solution, Stop & Stor is happy to accommodate your needs and offer you a pre-payment option, whereby you pre-pay 6 or 12 months and receive ½ or 1 month free, respectively. 

What do I need to bring when I’m ready to rent?

Does Stop & Stor provide locks?

You can purchase a lock at the time of rental, or you can bring your own lock.

What payment options are available to pay for my storage unit?

Stop & Stor strives to make your storage experience as smooth as possible, including paying your bill.  We offer the convenience of AutoPay, which will automatically charge your credit card each month, or automatically withdraws from your checking account, without any additional fees.   Monthly payments can also be made by credit card via our website in the My Account section, or via telephone.  You can also pay by cash, check, money order, or credit card at any Stop & Stor location.  Stop & Stor also accepts checks and money orders mailed directly to the facility.   

 

What happens if I’m late paying my bill?

For your convenience, your monthly bill is due on the first of every month.  Stop & Stor offers a curtesy five-day grace period before charging a late fee on the 6th day of the month.  Our late fee is a minimal, reasonable fee. 

 

Who can have access to my storage unit?

Upon renting a unit, you will receive a unique access code.  Only people you choose to give your access code and key to will have access to your storage unit.  Stop & Stor does not hold a key to your lock, nor can we gain access to your unit.

 

Do you offer any discounts?

Stop & Stor is pleased to offer military, senior citizen, and student discounts to our customers.  These discounts can be combined with our promotional offerings!  Please contact your facility for details.

Questions About Facilities

What hours can I access my storage unit?

Stop & Stor is open 7 days a week as a convenience to our customers. 

Monday-Wednesday, Friday: 8am-7pm (Elmhurst 7am – 7pm)

Thursday: 8am – 8pm (West Shore 8am – 7pm)

Saturday: 8am – 7pm (West Shore 9am – 6pm)

Sunday: 10am – 5 pm (West Shore 10am – 4pm)

 

What’s the difference between office hours and gate hours?

The office hours are the hours of operation for the storage facility when the facility managers will be available to assist you with your storage needs.  The gate hours are the hours your storage unit can be access using your gate access code. 

Do you hold auctions at your storage facilities?

Stop & Stor holds monthly auctions at all of our storage facilities.  Please contact the facilities directly to inquire when they are held.

What pest control and cleanliness measured do you take?

All Stop & Stor buildings are treated for pests on a regular schedule by pest control experts.  All Stop & Stor locations have full time maintenance staff that keep the buildings exceptionally clean.  

Do you accept packages?

As a courtesy to our customers, Stop & Stor will gladly accept packages at our facilities as needed.
